Ben’s Big Art Box Donation Drive

From December 1–12, Legacy Christian is partnering with Ben’s Big Art Box for a special donation drive in memory of former student, Ben Klooster. We’ll be collecting new art supplies to bless young patients at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, bringing creativity, comfort, and joy during their stay. See below for the list of most requested items and a link to their Amazon Wish List. Collection bins will be available at both campuses.

Ben was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in 2014 and underwent extensive treatment over the following year. He was briefly cancer-free, but the tumor returned in early 2016. Ben bravely continued his battle until just after his sixth birthday, receiving his ultimate healing in heaven on January 5, 2018.

Each December, in honor of his birthday, Ben’s Big Art Box collects art supplies and craft kits to bless children undergoing medical care at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Ben loved creating art, and even during his treatments, it brought him comfort and joy. This drive gives our community a meaningful opportunity to honor Ben’s life by providing art supplies to kids walking a similar path.

Keep in mind all items are given to an individual child, are considered “single use” and are theirs to keep. Post COVID, there are no shared supplies or shared spaces at the hospital. Smaller packs of items (crayons, markers, etc.) are preferred to larger quantity items.
